Election Ready Checklist: November 3, 2026, General Election

Check Your Voter Registration

Register to vote or update your voter registration at GoVoteColorado.gov. When you register to vote, you must affirm that you are a citizen of the United States; have been a resident of Colorado for at least twenty-two days immediately before the election you intend to vote in; that you are at least eighteen years old; and that the residence address you provided is your sole legal place of residence. If you are already registered, you may check your voter registration status, update your mailing address, and check or change your party affiliation.

Watch For Your Mail Ballot

Ballots for the November 3, 2026, General Election will be mailed to the address listed on your voter registration record beginning on October 2, 2026. If you have not received your ballot by October 14, 2026, please contact the Douglas County Elections Office at 303-660-7444, or visit a Voter Service and Polling Center to obtain a replacement ballot through Election Day.

Vote and Return Your Ballot

Place your voted ballot in your official return envelope and Vote Early, Near You! Mail your ballot using a Forever Stamp and allow two to nine business days for delivery. Save on postage by using one of 23 secure and convenient Ballot Drop Boxes located across Douglas County, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ballot Drop Boxes for the November 3, 2026, General Election will be open October 2, 2026, through 7 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, 2026. If you prefer to vote at a Voter Service and Polling Center, you may surrender your mail ballot at the VSPC of your choice and vote in-person during normal buisness hours beginning October 19, 2026, through 7 p.m. on Election Day, November 3, 2026.

  • September 4 – Last day for the Secretary of State to deliver the certification of ballot order and content to county clerks
  • September 18 – Military and overseas voters ballots mailed
  • September 25 – Public Logic & Accuracy Test, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Douglas County Elections Office, 125 Stephanie Place, Castle Rock
  • October 2 – Ballots mailed to eligible voters beginning on this date / 24-hour Ballot Drop Box locations open
  • October 19 – Voter Service and Polling Centers open through Election Day
  • October 26 – Last day a voter may request a ballot be sent by mail
  • November 3 – Election Day, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. / Polls close at 7 p.m. including all Ballot Drop Box Locations and Voter Service and Polling Centers
  • November 12 – Deadline to receive military and overseas ballots / Deadline to cure ballot signature or ID required issues through 11:59 p.m.
  • November 17 – Public Risk Limiting Audit, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Douglas County Elections Office, 125 Stephanie Place, Castle Rock
  • November 20 – Canvass Board, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Douglas County Elections Office, 125 Stephanie Place, Castle Rock
  • November 25 – Deadline for County to complete canvass and submit official abstract of votes to Secretary of State

Vote Away From Home

DID YOU KNOW? Ballots cannot be held or forwarded by the post office. There are options available to ensure your ballot is mailed to the desired location for any elections that take place while you are away from home.

Military – The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) allows all branches of the uniformed services and their spouses and/or dependents who are absent from the state because of a service member’s active duty to be mailed a ballot at a location of their choice. Additional organizations may also qualify. An out-of-state mailing address must be provided. Qualifying voters may receive their ballot by email, fax, or mail. To learn more, please visit the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) website.

Overseas – U.S. citizens who are living overseas, and whose last residence before leaving the country was in Colorado, are qualified to receive a ballot under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). If you qualify, you may choose to receive your ballot by email, fax or mail. An out-of-state mailing address must be provided. College – If you are a college student who resides in Douglas County but currently lives somewhere other than your official residence, you may change the BALLOT ADDRESS on your voter record to receive your ballot away from home.  To change the address where your ballot will be sent, please click here to update your voter registration record. Remember to update your record once again when you move to a new location or return home, as the ballot for each election will be mailed to the ballot address on your record.

Snowbirds & Vacationers – Are you a resident of Colorado who spends extended periods of time away from home traveling, visiting, or staying in another location?  To change the BALLOT ADDRESS where your ballot will be mailed for an election when you are away from home, please click here to update your voter registration record.  Remember to update your record once again when you move to a new location or return home, as the ballot for each election will be mailed to the ballot address on your record.
