By order of Sheriff Darren Weekly, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in place for unincorporated areas of Douglas County. Ordinance No. O-012-004 restricts open burning, the use of fireworks, portable fireplaces/fire pits and campfires in the unincorporated areas of Douglas County.
Ballot drop boxes are a secure and convenient way to return your ballot in its official return envelope with no postage required. The 23 ballot drop boxes located across Douglas County ensure that over 90% of the population is within three miles of a convenient location. Ballot drop boxes are made of strong, weather-resistant metal and are bolted to the ground. 24/7 video surveillance and lighting of ballot drop boxes provides the ability to easily monitor and/or review video of each location.
Video surveillance, lighting, and recording of ballot drop boxes is required by law during each election cycle. Douglas County Elections provides a 24/7 public live stream of each ballot drop box camera during the active election cycle to further enhance transparency in the election process.
