The Zebulon Regional Sports Complex is being designed as a multi‑use recreation destination that expands youth and adult sports opportunities in Douglas County. While planning is well underway, all facilities and amenities described here are proposed and may change as design, engineering, partnerships and public review continue. Nothing is final until contracts and construction plans are complete.
Sports & RecreationThe initial vision for Zebulon includes a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreation features designed to serve athletes, families and visitors year‑round. These amenities were presented during project planning and public outreach and reflect the County’s goal of creating a regional sports hub.
Lifestyle CenterOne of the major proposed features of the Zebulon development is a Lifestyle Center—a mixed‑use area that brings together restaurants, retail, health services, recreation and professional space in one accessible location. These amenities are still conceptual and may evolve throughout the design and negotiation process. Brand names are for illustrative purposes only. Possible amenities include:
As part of the development of the site that will house Zebulon, 185 acres will be preserved as open space—over 51% of the full site’s 357 acres. The sports facility will cover 46.5 acres of the remaining 172 acres. This preservation is key for elk migration across the region and will be part of a larger wildlife corridor.
