Spring is back, and so is water recreation at Rueter-Hess Reservoir. Grab your paddle and your lifejacket and get ready to hit the water starting Saturday, March 28.
Water recreation will be available Fridays through Mondays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October. Approved watercrafts include paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, river pontoons, johnboats, and fishing watercrafts equipped with electric trolling motors.
Parking is limited, and a reservation is required. Be sure to reserve your all-day parking pass online before you arrive.
Paddleboard and kayak rentals will be available starting in late May.
To ensure the best day possible, there are some things you should know:
- Trailers are not allowed.
- All watercrafts will be inspected onsite for invasive species before entering the water.
- Life jackets are required and must be worn at all times.
- After inspection, you may drop off gear near the shoreline before parking. Expect a 5 to 10-minute walk from parking areas.
- All watercrafts must be hand launched. Please partially inflate watercraft before arriving at the reservoir shoreline.
- Dogs are allowed in designated areas, but not in the water.
- Glass bottles and alcohol are prohibited.
Planning to fish? Be sure to review all applicable rules and regulations before your visit.
Using an electric trolling motor? Keep these rules in mind:
- Only approved watercraft, such as paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, river pontoons, and johnboats, may use an electric trolling motor.
