Project Update

Updated May 28, 2026

Starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed south half of the roundabout at the Waterton / Middle Fork intersection, while the County’s contractor constructs the north half of the new roundabout. Middle Fork will be closed between Waterton Road and Eckley Street, with detours in place to direct the traveling public. One lane in each direction will be maintained on Waterton through the intersection. This shift in traffic will end in early to mid-July.

Construction started on March 30, 2026, and is anticipated to be completed by August 7, 2026.

Roundabout Map/Plans

Description

Douglas County is adding a second roundabout on Waterton Road at Middle Fork Street. Construction will begin with the south half, then proceed to the north half. Detours will be in place as needed, and one lane in each direction on Waterton Road will remain open during construction. The project is scheduled for completion by August 7.

Schedule

Starting on March 30, there will be work on the asphalt crossover at Waterton and Snake River to facilitate the traffic switch at Waterton and Middle Fork Street.  There will also be some ongoing work at the Waterton and Eagle River Roundabout as construction continues through the end of week.  Beginning on March 30, the southeast half of Waterton and Middle Fork intersection will be closed (see below detour route map).  Both directions of Waterton will be reduced to one-lane and traffic will be directed to the southbound/westbound lanes.  Traffic is anticipated to remain in this alignment until mid-May.  There will be access to Snake River from Waterton, however, there will be a detour in place to encourage the use of Eagle River as the primary access.
