Douglas County’s Red Tape Reduction Task Force

Positioning Douglas County as the fastest, most business-ready county in the nation.

Logo treatment for the Red Tape Reduction Task Force with text 'Cut the Red Tape' and scissors cutting red tapeRecent headlines indicate that companies are choosing to move away from Colorado due to regulatory burdens and systemic delays. Douglas County believes we can—and should—set a new standard. In December 2025, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners adopted a resolution calling for the cutting of red tape and reduction of regulatory burden for commercial and industrial development.

In response to this call to action, the Red Tape Reduction Task Force, in partnership with the Douglas County Economic Development Corporation, was established to evaluate our regulatory framework, eliminate unnecessary barriers, and identify bold, practical solutions that accelerate speed to market while maintaining high standards for safety, quality and community character.

When businesses face unpredictable timelines, duplicative processes or unclear requirements, projects stall. Delays increase costs. Opportunities are lost. We are committed to ensuring that when businesses need solutions, they choose Douglas County.
